Baie-Johan-Beetz (QC), 2013: Un feu détruit 600 kilomètres carrés de forêts et s'approche dangereusement du village. Aux limites du brasier, une roche blanche aux allures de quartz se révèle sous les lichens rongés par les flammes. Après le drame, on trouve une coupure nette et mystique là où s'est arrêté le feu.

«Là où s'est arrêté le feu» est un projet de musique minimale et de poésie sonore s'échelonnant de 2015 à 2019. Les sons sont enregistrés lors d'immersions sur la Côte Nord et en Abitibi: à l'île au perroquets, à l'île d'Anticosti, à Natashquan, à Sept-Îles et à La Motte. Chacune de ces pièces raconte un moment, un état d'esprit, une rencontre, un souvenir qui, avec la musique et les sons naturels, révèlent une beauté, une mélancolie que j'ai pu ressentir en tant qu'acteur/observateur en ces milieux.

«Là où s'est arrêté le feu», c'est le récit de contemplation de 4 années de dévouement à des causes plus grandes que moi, des moments inoubliables d'accomplissement et de reconnaissance, puis un moment d'épuisement. Durant la post-production de ce projet, j'ai senti le feu s'éteindre en moi. Ce fut un véritable défi d'y faire face, de tenter de survivre et de redéfinir les aspects de ma vie qui me sont chers. De mieux savoir choisir ce pour quoi il vaut la peine de vivre, d'accorder du temps, de l'énergie et de la passion.

Cet album est dédié à tous ceux et celles avec qui j'ai pu me lier d'amitié durant ces années de voyage, particulièrement la population de l'Île d'Anticosti.

Baie-Johan-Beetz (QC), 2013: A wildfire destroyed 232 square miles of forest and dangerously approaches the village. A quartz-like white rock is revealed while the trees and lichens are eaten away by the flames. After the tragedy, a mystical clear cut can be seen where the fire stopped.

« Là où s’est arrêté le feu » is a project of minimal music and sound poetry ranging from 2015 to 2019. The sounds are recorded during long immersions on the North Shore and Abitibi (QC): from Île-au-Perroquets, Anticosti Island, Natashquan, Sept-Îles or La Motte. Each of these pieces revisit a moment, a state of mind, an encounter, a memory which, with the music and the natural sounds, reveal a beauty, a melancholy that I had the chance to feel as an actor/observer in these environments.

"Là où s'est arrêté le feu" is the story of contemplation of four years of dedication to causes greater than me, unforgettable moments of accomplishment and recognition, then a period of exhaustion. During the post-production of this project, I felt the fire fade away inside of me. It was a real challenge to face it, to try to survive and to redefine the aspects of my life that are dear to me. Better knowing what to choose for what it is worth giving time, energy and love.

This album is dedicated to all those with whom I was able to befriend during these years of travels, especially the population of Anticosti Island.
